India captain MS Dhoni joins Territorial Army as Lt Colonel
On 1 Nov 2011, Indian cricket captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni become the latest high profile celebrity to get an honorary commission in the Territorial Army as
Lieutenant Colonels in the Territorial Army with the army chief, Gen. V.K. Singh, pipping his rank on his shoulders.
President Pratibha Patil had approved the grant of honorary commissions to the illustrious sportsperson on Sep 13 in recognition of their achievements in their respective sports.
Dhoni commissioned into the elite Para Regiment in the presence of the Colonel of the Regiment, Lt. Gen. Vinod Bhatia.
Gen.V.K Singh complimented Dhoni on the remarkable performance of the Indian team in winning the World Cup and praised the quality of leadership of the young captain, sources in the Army said.
Dhoni led India to victory in the cricket World Cup earlier this year and was instrumental in taking the team to the top spot in Test rankings for the first time last year. He had also led the team to victory in the inaugural T20 World championship in 2007.
did he even give any exam or just beause hes a celebrity ,they allowed him into TA? also any idea if TA exam for officers was held in 2018 and when will it be in 2019?
