Territorial Army confers honorary rank of Lt Col on Abhinav bindra.
India's only individual Olympic gold medallist Abhinav Bindra will be bestowed with the honorary army rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
President Pratibha Devisingh Patil has granted the honorary rank of lieutenant colonel in the territorial army to Indian ace shooter Abhinav Bindra.
The Olympic gold medallist shooter, sported army's olive green uniform at the function held in their honour at the Territorial Army headquarters in the national capital.
Ace shooter Bindra won the first ever individual gold for India in the Olympic Games in Beijing in 2008. He is also an Arjuna Award winner and has been given the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna.
Abhinav bindra now become brand ambassadors of the Indian Army.
